New flavors bring variety to America’s favorite snacks

OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 25, 2011 – ConAgra Foods is bringing new flavors to America’s favorite snacks with new products from Slim Jim®, DAVID® Seeds, and Andy Capp’s®. Meeting consumer demand for new, bolder flavors, Slim Jim introduces Zesty Garlic and Jamaican Jerk to its line of meat sticks, DAVID Seeds introduces new, larger-sized Jumbo seeds in Buffalo Style Ranch and Hot & Spicy varieties, and Andy Capps introduces new BBQ Fries and a value delivering, multi-serve, eight-ounce Big Bag.

“Consumers are looking for bigger, bolder flavors from their snacks1,” said David Palfenier, President, Snacks, ConAgra Foods. “All of our new products reflect this trend toward more intense flavors – whether you’re reaching for a Slim Jim, some baked Andy Capp’s Fries or a handful of DAVID Seeds.”

America’s number one meat stick2, Slim Jim is bringing restaurant-inspired flavors to the category with new sweet and spicy Jamaican Jerk Giant stick and Zesty Garlic Monster stick. Jerk is in the top five fastest-growing sauce flavors, and garlic is the number one flavor on restaurant menus3. The new flavors, available now, are more complex and expand meat sticks to consumers with broader flavor preferences.

DAVID Seeds, the No. 1 seed4, introduces Jumbo Seeds in three exciting flavors. The Jumbo seeds are larger in size and are perfect for those new to “seeding.” They are available in new Hot & Spicy and Buffalo Style Ranch flavors, as well as the all-time consumer favorite, Original. The two new flavors bring spicy, more intense flavors to seeds, meeting consumer desire for hot and spicy flavors – the fastest growing new flavor in salty snacks – and the large seeds provide an easier shell-cracking experience.

Andy Capp’s offers a bold new take on a familiar flavor with new BBQ Fries. The French fry-shaped crunchy snacks are always baked, not fried, and provide consumers big crunch and intense flavor. Additionally, Andy Capp’s two most popular flavors, Hot Fries and Cheddar Fries, are now available in a larger, more shareable eight ounce bag, providing a group-friendly snack that won’t break the bank.
