Employees partner with St. Louis Area Foodbank to host citywide
food drive
ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 17, 2015--
ConAgra Foods, Inc. (NYSE: CAG) announced today “Spring into Giving”, a
citywide food drive scheduled for March 20 that will benefit the St.
Louis Area Foodbank.
ConAgra Foods’ St. Louis employees have joined forces with more than 75
St. Louis area companies to encourage community members to gather
food donations for those in need, with the goal of collecting 50,000
pounds of food for the St. Louis Area Foodbank. The St. Louis Area
Foodbank feeds hungry people by distributing food throughout 26 counties
in Missouri and Illinois and engaging the community in the fight against
hunger.
Non-perishable food items can be donated at red food bins or crates,
marked with the “Spring into Giving” flyer, at more than 220 locations
across the city. Donation bins will be located at each participating
company, area firehouses, recreational centers and government buildings.
Suggested items for food donation include canned fruits and vegetables,
peanut butter, jellies, instant potatoes, canned tuna and chicken,
beans, pasta and sauce, cereal, oatmeal, rice and crackers.
“For 40 years, the St. Louis Area Foodbank has been fighting hunger
through its tireless efforts to help stock the shelves of more than 100
different agencies in the city of St. Louis," Mayor Francis Slay said.
"On behalf of city employees, we are proud to support ConAgra Foods'
food drive by encouraging employees to drop donations in the bins at our
workplaces to help our city's and region's neighbors in need."
Employees from ConAgra Foods’ St. Louis office are joining ConAgra Foods
employees nationwide as they celebrate the company’s fifth annual Month
of Service program, a company-wide focus to highlight the importance of
employee engagement by providing community service to non-profit
organizations and their causes. Employees are volunteering at food
banks, serving meals to those in need and packing backpacks to help
fight child hunger in their local communities.
“For nearly 20 years, ConAgra Foods has been deeply committed to using
our knowledge and resources to help end child hunger in America,” said
Kori Reed, vice president, Cause and Foundation. “Our employees have
proven to be an incredible resource in this cause, and I’m always
inspired by their passion and commitment to reduce hunger and improve
the quality of life for people in the communities where they live and
work.”
